The retail sector is the UK’s largest private employer, providing jobs for three million people whilst consumer products manufacturers include many household names. Hospitality is the UK’s 4th largest industry delivering £53 billion annually in gross value added to the economy. 2.3 million people are employed in hospitality and tourism in around 180,000 establishments.
Our Consumer practice is of key importance to Hill Coates Associates. Consumer brands and the organisations that support them stretch across international boundaries and have a constant need to be renewing and improving their leadership. The practice is active amongst speciality and mass merchant retail organisations, as well as in fashion luxury and lifestyle products and distribution. Fast Moving Consumer Goods organisations are one of the major sub-sectors and internet retail brings us together with our work in our technology practice. We are also involved in the areas of leisure, travel and entertainment where another convergence is obvious.
Naturally we enjoy working with the hospitality and food & drink sub-sectors including the now omni-present quick service restaurants and multi-site chains that are such a feature of modern life. We are also active amongst the manufacturing and logistics organisations which support this sector and this is complimented by our transportation, logistics and supply practice.
